    In the early hours of December 30, 1916, a group of nobles lured Rasputin to Yusupovsky Palace, where they attempted to poison him.
    Rasputin won the favor of Czar Nicholas II and Czarina Alexandra through his ability to stop the bleeding of their hemophiliac son, Alexei.
    He was murdered by Russian nobles eager to end his sway over the royal family.

    The civil war occurred because after November 1917, many groups had formed that opposed Lenin’s Bolsheviks.
    The Treaty of Brest-Litovsk had shown to many how weak the Bolsheviks actually were.
    At the end of 1917, the Bolsheviks only effectively controlled Petrograd, Moscow and the territory between both cities.

    The number of strikers grew from eighty thousand in April to two hundred and twenty thousand in May.
    The Provisional Government was unable to make decisive policy decisions due to political factionalism and a breakdown of state structures.

    The riots got worse and were getting out of hand,Nicholas was informed about the situation and the Russian Parliament .
    The police tried to carry out the orders of Nicholas. Unfortunately, people got killed and the rioters became even more angry.

    In March 1917, the army garrison at Petrograd joined striking workers in demanding socialist reforms, and Czar Nicholas II was forced to abdicate.
    After a secret meeting a death sentence was sent to his whole family.

    He opposed World War I as an imperialistic conflict and for Russia was a disaster.
    After the outbreak of the February Revolution, German authorities allowed Lenin and his lieutenants to cross Germany an route from Switzerland to Sweden in a sealed railway car.

    Lenin ordered Bolshevik representatives should get a quick treaty from the Germans so they can end war,and then the Bolshevik could concentrate Russia on itself.
    The contrast between the two peace delegations at Brest Litovsk revealed the broad gap that was emerging between the Soviet Union and the rest of the world as a result of the 1917 revolution.
    On March 3 the Soviet government accepted a treaty by which Russia lost Ukraine, its Polish and Baltic territories, and Finland.
