Alexander freed the serfs allowed them to buy land but they were still very poor and could not afford much. When they bought land they would go into debt. -

Russia and Japan were both trying to get Korea and Manchuria for an economic advantage. Russia lost this war. -

Bloody Sunday was the start of the Revolution and it made the people that were trying to revolt very upset. -

Father Gapon a Russian Orthodox priest led 200,000 workers and citizens to the Winter Palace to prestent the czar their displeasures. Nicholas II's troops shot the people that were coming to the Winter Palace. -
WWI Russias Involvement
Russia was supporting Serbia fighting against Germany. Russia was getting defeated by Germany. Germany occupied alot of Russia during some of this time. -

Nicholas saw the end coming. He wasn't sucsessful. He lost to Germany and his people wanted a liberal government not a communist government. -
Alexander Kernsky becomes leader of the Provisional Government
The provisional government collapesed shortly after the war with Germany. Kernskey fled to London when Lenin gained power. -
Vladimir Lenin and Bolshevivks capture the Winter Palace
The Bolshevick troops took over the government buildings including the winter palace. Once they took over the buildings they arrested the people that used to run the government and they brought in Lenin to govern. -
Russian Civil War Begins
The people were unhappy with Lenin and the Bolshevicks. The people didn't want comunism anymore so they started the Civil War. (REDS- Communists WHITES-non communistis) -
Nicholass II and Family Executed
The Bolshevick Party executed Nicholas II and family so they would never have a chance to be czar again. -
Vladimir Lenin dies and Stalin becomes leader of the Soviet Union.
Lenin died at 53 and Stalin gained power. Stalin was the general secreretary of the communist party.Stalin was the next most powerful person of the communisty pary so he became leader of Russia.
