Ivan III
Ivan was born in Moscow in 1440. He married the princess of Tver, Maria when he was 12 years old. By marrying the princess he ended a major rivalry between Tver, that had been going on since the 1300s. He earned the title Ivan "The Great" because he made the centre of Russian power Moscow.

Ivan IV
Ivan IV, also known as Ivan The Terrible. He was the first to be proclaimed tsar of Russia. He was born August 25, 1530, and died March 18, 1584. Ivan went into war against Sweden and Poland, which were not successful. He did this to impose military discipline.

Time of Troubles
The time of Troubles was a period of Chaos that began after Rurik Dynasty ended when Tsar Fedor died in 1598, without an heir to the throne, his brother in law took over. During the Time of Troubles a civil war occurred, and there was a constant change in czars to try and keep order.
