Russia revolution in 1917
The Russian Revolution took place in 1917 when the peasants and working class people of Russia revolted against the government of Tsar Nicholas II. They were led by Vladimir Lenin and a group of revolutionaries called the Bolsheviks. The new communist government created the country of the Soviet Union. -
Food shortages
The Tsar was spending too much money on the his army and was therefore losing money as he wasn't winning the wars this led to a riot among the peasants complaining about food prices and shortages. -
The Tsar gets left by his troops
The troops had got fed up of the Tsar's poor leadership causing them to lose many troops during the start of him taking over. They also refused to stop riots as the rioters were their own people -
The Duma abandons the Tsar
The Duma eventually abandon the Tsar as the Tsar kept on dissolving them and this made them angry and therefore make a new party -
The Tsar leaves the throne
On this day (2 days after the Duma told him to leave the throne) The Tsar gave up the throne as he was fearing for his life as the Russians and his own army were against him -
