  • Tsar Nicholas II

    Tsar Nicholas II
    Tsar Nicholas the second took throne when his dad died in 1894, he was born in 1863. He married a german born princess who had a pretty good influence over him. The Russian people lead a mutiny against him to over throw him. He was influenced greatly by Rasputin also claimed to have magical powers and healed their son, but Rasputin was very corrupted. Nicholas II was the tsar that created the October Manifesto. Exiled to Siberia in later years.

    The Russo-Japanese War was a war between Russia and Japan. The Russians expected a quick swift win but were surprised a quick swift loss. This lead the Russian population to believe the Tsar was not all powerful and chosen by God.
  • Bloody Sunday

    Bloody Sunday was when a group of people with a petition for the russian Tsar to sign lead by Georgy Gapon, a priest of the Orthodox Church was shot down and killed in front of the Tsars palace. This was a cause of a few more revolutions to come.

    The Revolution of 1905 caused a period of social and political freedom in the Russian Empire. This made it possible for a mass of Jewish politics and the flourishing of a new, modern Jewish culture expressed in Yiddish, Hebrew, and Russian. These were mostly practiced throughout the pesants and surfs.

    In March 1917 major changes took place in Russia. The corrupted Rasputin was dead and Lenin had stepped out of the country. The proletariots started a revolution against the government because of major food shortages. Eventualy the Tsar was forced to abdicate the throne. Alexander Kerensky, a Trudovisk, was completely against Rasputin so his death was great for him. The Okrhana was set up after the assasination of Alexander II to maintain state security, they were the secret police.

    Led by Vladmir Lenin, and the soviets, overthrew the Provisional Gavernment in St. Petersburg, The Bolsheviks took over power as leaders of multiple parts of the government.

    After November 1917,many governmental had formed that disliked the Bolsheviks. The groups included monarchists, militarists, and foreign nations. Together , they were White army while the Bolsheviks were the Red army.

    Right after taking over Russia, the Bolsheviks hardened their fragile grasp on power. Lenin made peace with Germany and stopped WW1 for Russia. The end of a war that lasted 3 years (1918-1921) finaly came. The Bolsheviks set up a governmental duma but still kept the majority of the power.
