    On March 2, 1855 Tsar Nicholas dies. 24 days later Tsar Nicholas is crowed tsar of Russia in the old Ouspensky Cathedral in Moscow.

  • Bloody Sunday

    Bloody Sunday
    The proletariets of petersburg were peacefully protesting. The protests werre lead by Georgy Gapon preist of the Orthodox church. They went to the winter palace. The king ordered the okhrana in to open fire on the crowd. It was described as a mutiny. 40,000 people injured or dead. The goverment hid bodies to cover up the amount of deaths according to the government under 100 people died.

    Sparked by the protested on January 22, 1905(bloody Sunday). October 26, 1905 the St Petersburg Soviet of Workers' Deputies was formed. This example of working class unity and strength quickly spread to other industrial cities. The October Manifesto was created and the duma was the legislature.

    Working class demanded wadge raises to buy food.Then 30,000 were locked out of work. As the riots worsened Nicholas asked the Duma to sent out emergency food supply. Police tried to carry out these orders but rioters got killed. Communists took over and the royal family was exiled to Serbia(partly because of Rasputin). Alexander Kerensky was the leader at the time that was overthrown.

    The last phase in the 1917 Russian revolution in which the Bolshevik party took power of the rule in Russia. Joseph Stalin the leader of the bolsheviks over threw the tsar.

    Vladimir Lenin got Russia out of world war one but he could not stop the civil war. The Bolsheviks(red army) started to fight the anti-Bolsheviks(Mensheviks(white army)) for rule of the country. The war raged on until the beginning of 1921 .

    Treaty of Brest-Litovsk
    The treaty between The Treaty of Brest-Litovsk brought about the end of the war between Russia and Germany in 1918. The German were reminded of the harshness of Brest-Litovsk when they complained about the severity of the Treaty of Versailles signed in June 1919.Lenin had ordered that the Bolshevik representatives should get a quick treaty from the Germans to bring about an end to the war so that the Bolsheviks could concentrate on the work they needed to do in Russia itself.

    A conference of plenipotentiary delegations from the Russian SFSR, the Transcaucasian SFSR, the Ukrainian USSR and the Byelorussian USSR approved the Treaty of Creation of the USSR and the Declaration of the Creation of the USSR, forming the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics.
