The North and South of the U.S fought over if slavery should be ilegal in the U.S.The North (the Union) wanted to abolish slavery and the South(the confederation) wanted it to stay legal. -
The Charlottetown/Quebec conference.
British Columbia was to far away to attend both conferences. Newfoundland didn't atten the Charlottetown conference but did attend the Quebec conference. -
The Amercian civil war ends
The north won. The fears of a U.S invasion after the civl war ended encouraged the BNA politicians to join the colonies. -
The London conference
Newfoundland dropped out of the discussions. the London Conference was the last series of discussions and debate leading up to confederation. -
The birth of the Dominion of Canada
Queen Victoria already chose ottawa as the the capital. Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswich and Nova Scotia were part of confederation.
