  • Roosevelt's Birth

    Theodore Roosevelt Jr. was born on October 27, 1858, in New York City, to Theodore "Thee" Roosevelt Sr., of Dutch heritage, and Martha "Mittie" Bulloch, a Southern belle rumored to have been a prototype for the Gone with the Wind character Scarlett O'Hara. His family owned a successful plate-glass import business.
  • Roosevelt Returns a Hero

    Roosevelt Returns a Hero
    Roosevelt lead the "Rough Riders" during the war and fought with gallantry and courage in every battle. Most notably the battle of San Juan Hill. After returning from the war as an officer people looked at him as a hero and leader of the famed Rough Riders.

This lead to an energy deficit and Theodore Roosevelt and the government's involvement. This was the first time the government stepped in as an arbitrator.

    Roosevelt and his hunting guide were on a hunting expedition for bears and ended up running into a young bear cub. Roosevelt refused to kill the young bear and was later referred to as Teddy bear, later a small stuffed bear toy would be named the same thing

    The Elkins Act was an amendment to the Interstate Commerce Act. Without restrictive legislation, large firms could demand rebates or prices below the collusive price from railroad companies as condition for their business. The Act fixed this by enforcing the laws with greater strength

    Following his unexpected first term as president following McKinley's assassination Roosevelt decided to run for his first full term. He easily won back the presidency with little people against him and this time he would focus on more foreign issues for his second term.

    Devil's Tower was the first national monument which was commissioned under Roosevelt's administration. It's laccolithic butte composed of igneous rock in the Bear Lodge Mountains; near Hulett and Sundance in Crook County, northeastern Wyoming, above the Belle Fourche River. At a height of 5,112 ft.
  • Yosemite Park

    In 1906 the state controlled Yosemite fell under federal control as part of Roosevelt's conservation efforts. It then became a national part under the Department of the Interiors Control.

    Roosevelt was extremely upset with Taft by the end of Taft's first term and many other progressives urged him to run against the Republicans and Democrats in the Election of 1912. Roosevelt went back on his word and decided to run for a third term as a third party candidate. The Progressives became know as the Bull Moose's. This election was the first time a third party upset the balance of an election and finished in 2nd. Sadly Roosevelt did not win but it kept Taft out of office.
