Rome Becomes A Republic
In 509 BCE, Rome became a Republic. Rome overthrew their Etruscan rulers in 509 BCE who had been ruling over them for hundreds of years. After this, the Romans decided to establish a Republic. This meant that Romans would elect officials to represent them.
