Cody Willcoxson arrives at Fort Leonard Wood. He gives his identification to the guard gate who asks him to pull over. He drives through the gate, beginning a high speed chase at Fort Leonard Wood. -
8:35 p.m.
Willcoxson leaves the military base out of the north gate. St. Roberts Police continue the persuit toward Rolla. -
8:40 a.m.
Willcoxson enters Rolla and begins shooting at the officers in pursuit of him. He crashes his vehicle on the Missouri Science and Technology campus. -
8:45 a.m.
Missouri S&T goes on lockdown after Willcoxson enters McNutt Hall carrying an AK-47 assault weapon. Willcoxson soon leaves the building out of the north entrance. -
8:50 a.m.
Missouri S&T informs the general public about the lockdown. Willcoxson is still believed to be on campus. -
9:10 a.m.
Willcoxson leaves campus and begins traveling north on foot. He finds a house with a dark gray Ford Taurus. He steals the vehicle. Police put out alert to look for vehicle with license plate ROLLAB. -
9:30 a.m.
Police announce no injuries in previous shoot-outs with Willcoxson.Suspect is still at large, police continue pursuing leads. Area schools are on lockdown. -
9:45 a.m.
Police release a suspect description for campus gunman. They say he is 31-yaers-old and has sandy blond hair. They suspect he is bleeding from the hand. -
10:30 a.m.
Local authorities confirm police are looking for Cody Willcoxson. They say he is in a stolen vehicle. Willcoxson's criminal record in Oklahoma and Missouri comes to light. Willcoxson has been charged with escaping a county jail as well as burglary and motor vehicle theft in the past. -
11 a.m.
Law enforcement confirms the chase began at Fort Leonard Wood. They say they don't know why he was attempting to get on base. Authorities say they were briefed that Rolla was not the intended target. -
11:45 a.m.
Fort Leonard Wood releases the following statement about the incident: At approximately 0830 hours this morning (Wednesday), 12 May 2011 a yet unidentified civilian individual, with no known connection to the installation, attempted to access FLW thru the West Gate. The Department of the Army Civilian Policeman stationed at the West Gate stopped the individual and instructed him to pull over and submit to further inspection. A high speed chase begins on Hwy 63 South. Police believe the suspect is traveling in Phelps County on 63. -
12:54 p.m.
Willcoxson is in custody of the Missouri Highway Patrol. The Highway Patrol has Willcoxson on the ground at gunpoint before cuffing him. -
