  • Brown v. Board

    Brown v. Board
    One of the biggest Supreme Court cases ever, they ruled that schools can't be segregated anymore even if they are equal, which most of the time they weren't. As a result, it became one of the biggest accmolpishments in the Civil Rights movement and paved the way to intergrated schools. Despite having opposition from many, it still a great positive impact still seen today.
  • March on Washington

    March on Washington
    With over 250,000 people attending, it was of the biggest protests in US history with many there protesting over the lack of civil rights for African Americans across the country including the famous "I Have A Dream" speech from Martin Luther King Jr. It ultimately was one of the major factors for new legislation later.
  • Civil Rights Act of 1964

    When Lyndon Johnson signed this, it barred dscrimination in many areas around the country such as restaurants, hotels, restrooms, etc. It ultimately helped more equality around the country later on but still lacked in some other places such as voting rights and other parts but it was still a huge part towards equal rights.

    Voting Rights of 1965
    Even though the Civil Rights Act helped a lot, it didn't help guarantee voting for African Americans with tactics used to not let them vote such as poll taxes, literacy tests, physical abuse, and more. It made sure to remove those obstacles and also discrimination that came with it. It ultimately led to near-equal treatment for African Americans from that point foward.
