The Proclamation of 1763
After the british won the French and Indian war the king banned all colonists from settling west of the Appalachian Mountians. They believed that since they fought for the land they should be able to settle where they pleased. Later the colonists just ignored him because it was impossable to enforce the rule. -
End of the French and Indian War
The French and Indian war was a very intense battle. Some were killed and many wounded. The French won this war and the king was very pleased with the results! The french were supposed to gain the rights to live pass the Appalachain Mountains. -
Sugar Act
During the [Information about the Sugar Act](<a href='http://www.ushistory.org/declaration/related/sugaract.htm)' >Sugar Act</a> the King made the colonists pay taxes on things like sugar, molasses, certain wines, coffee, pimiento,cambric and printedcalico. They didnt like this because they need these thing for making food, and everyday needs. -
Quartering Act
The quartering act was an act they put on the colonists to help the British soldiers. Englished citezens had to house and feed the British Soldiers. The soldiers got to sleep in the colinists beds and they practiclly kicked the residents out of their own home.The English felt as if their rights had been violated. Although some felt that way the others refused to let the soldiers stay on their soil. -
Stamp Act
The stamp act put a tax on many things. The colonists had to buy additional stamps for documents like wills, contracts, newspapers, pkaying cards and more. The colonists thought this was unfair because they had not been given any imput. A.K.A "taxation without representation is tyranny!" -
Boston Massacre
The boston Massacre was a crazy time. Five men were killed and some got major injuries. One man that was harmless and justtrying to help settle it down got killed. His name was Crispus Attucks. He was the first to get killed, -
Townshend act
All imports got taxed in this act. Goods such as lead tea glass and other was taxed while comming in so the writs of asstance was issued. -
Boston Tea Party
The Boston Tea Party was a three hour long process of ninty-thousand pounds of tea pouring into the Boston Harbor. One hundred and sixteen members of the sons of Liberty took part in this historic moment. Over five thousand colonists gazed as the tea flooded into the harbor. What they didn't know was later on they would have to pay for this one million dolllar escapade. -
Coercive/Intolerable Acts
The government enforced these intolerable acts right after the boston tea party. The colonists felt their rights had been violated. The British felt like they finaly got the colonies under their control. Yet once again the colonists violate these rules. Some of those rules were cloing the routes to the boston harbor, and the quartering act which was applied to every colony. -
The First Continental Congress 2
The first continental congress continued. They decided to demand a repeal on the acts. They wanted to trian militias, gather minutemen and organize boycotts as well. They were supposed to meet again the next year but that didn't happen because of something that would effect the world forever on april 19, 1775. -
The First Continental Congress
The first continental congress was meeting to discuss what to do about the British taxation and acts. All the colonies had very knowledgeable representatives such as John Jay of New York, John Adams and Sam Adams of Massachusettes, and George Washington of Virginia. All of the colonies attended the meeting except for Georgia because they refused to send a representitiveThey met because they wanted to now what needed to be done about the horrible intolorable acts. Lexington and Concord
This is also known as "The shot heard 'round the world". The troops had set out to Concord, Massachusetes to sieze munitions. Eight farmers were killed; the war has begun! This event was going to have a huge impact on the world.
