In 1954, a band called Billy Haley and the Comets launched a smash hit called Rock Around The Clock. This is ofen referred to as the beginning of Rock and Roll. Haley's song rose to number 1 in 1955 when it was included as a soundtrack of Blackboard Jubngle, a movie about juvenile delinquents, with Bill Haley portraying a young rebel.
