He was a part of the National Assembly and he was highly respected for the speeches he gave. He also participated in the Estates-General meeting as a representative of the Third Estate. -

Robespierre was elected president of the powerful Jacobin Club. The Jacobin Club was a political group that formed in the wake of the French Revolution. The Jacobin Club helped support the most radical phase of the French Revolution. The French Jacobin's believed in equality among citizens, the freedom of an individual, and universal brotherhood. -
New Religion
Robespierre and The National Convention said that the Cult of the Supreme Being was now an official religion. This made the Atheists and the Roman Catholics very upset. -
President of the National Convention
On June 4, 1794, Robespierre was unanimously elected President of the National Convention. About six days after his election, a law was passed that suspended a suspect's right to public trial and to legal assistance. In just one month of him being president, 1,400 enemies of the Revolution were Guillotined. -
Witnesses
A law was made where witnesses can no longer be called to the defense of a person. This resulted in a lot of people being unfairly Guillotined because there was no one to defend them. -

Robespierre decided to kill everyone one he didn't like based on their views. He killed Danton because of his less extreme views.
