Sugar Act
The Sugar Act cut the tax of mollasses down to half of what it was per gallon. This was issued during a time of depression in the colonies, so this made the colonists very happy. -
Stamp Act
This act required a government tax stamp to be placed on all legal documents. This was a very bad idea, the colonists protested. -
Quartering Act
This allowed British soldiers to hunker down in any home they wanted to. Every citizen was required to feed the soldier(s), and do whatever else they wanted. -
Declaration of Rights and Grievences
The colonists sent a document back to England stating all of the things that they did not like about the government. One of the grievences was taxation without representation. -
Declaratory Act
The stamp act is repealled. But in return, the right to tax the colonists is granted. -
Townshend Act
Taxes were placed on some commonly bought items in the colonies. The taxes were repealled after some fighting, but the tax on tea still remained. -
Boston Massacre
5 colonists were killed by British soldiers. A lot of tension between the two groups was said to be the cause of the murders. -
Tea Act
Tea was being sold from a company that was going under in order to keep it in business. But since it was being sold to the colonies at a very low price, the local merchants were in danger of going out of business, -
Boston Tea Party
American Patriots disguises themselves as Mohawk Indians and dump 9,000 Euros worth of tea into Boston Harbor. -
Coercive Act
This act was a whole bunch of acts that the British made up to bring order to Massachusettes after the Boston Tea Party. This restricted Mass. by cutting off ports, and cutting off government. -
First Continental Congress Meeting
This first meeting was because of the acts the British imposed, Called the "Intolerable acts". The Intolerable Acts were started because of the Boston Tea Party.
