Robert Bayalan-Week 10

  • Identity vs Confusion

At this time, I am 13 years old and still finding out more about myself. I begin to enjoy talking to as much people as I can and helping them in anyway that I can. I begin to explore what I think is right or wrong in life and apply it to situations in life that I may come across to. In Erikson's 5th stage, he makes it clear that during this age, people begin to explore different ideals and values while applying it to real life situations. If they are successful, they find their identity.
  • Intimacy vs Isolation

In this stage, I am 19 years old and would begin to find and hang out with people that have similar values/interests that I have. Due to my successful stage previously, I have learned what my identity is and begin applying it to real life situations and begin meeting people who are like me. In this stage, I begin looking for other relationships to pursue and be consistently with. In this stage, Erikson believes that people begin to choose a life of isolation or intimacy.
  • Integrity vs Despair

In this stage, I would be around 70 years old and enjoying life while I am still able to. I begin to reminisce about the years beforehand while understanding that the regrets that I have should not control my life. I am happy and content with the life that I had. In this stage, Erikson begins to explain that people in this stage either learn to be happy and not look back at their regrets or let their regrets control their life. People who let their regrets control them have their life end badly.
