    The theory of mercantilism is an economic system used to increase wealth by establishing a balance of trade in which a nation is exporting more than they import. The colonies would export raw materials to Britain, and Britain would create manufactured goods to export back to the colonies.
  • Salutary Neglect

    Salutary Neglect
    England relaxed its enforcement of regulations on the colonies to ensure the economic loyalty. Raw materials from the colony continued to be exported to England, and the colonist kept buying English goods.
  • French and Indian War

    French and Indian War
    This war led to the British gaining French Canada. This strengthened the British but made it easy for the colonist to rebel because they would eventually gain French support.
  • Proclamation of 1763

    This proclamation banned all expansion west of the Appalachians.
  • Stamp Act of 1765

    This act put a tax on any and all printed goods. It sparked many protest because it effected every single colonist.
