    English Bill of RightsWilliam and Mary of Orange signed it. It gave the people the right to petetion the monarchs, and freedom of speech.
  • French and Indian War

    The major players were Ausr\tria, England, France, Great Britain, Prussia, and Sweden. Great Britain won. Some of the major battles were the battle of Quebec and the battle of fort necessity. The treaty of Paris helped to makes our relationship with the British.

    Benjamin Franklin suggested it, but it never happened. The popular political cartoon called Join or Die is based off of this, which is also created by Benjamin Franklin.

    King George III denied the colonies the right to fight in defense of the empire, a right which they considered central to their self-image as englishmen.

    While under the stamp act, all paper items such as legal documents, shipping papers, licenses, newspapers or publications, and playing cards. The colonists strongly disliked the act and boycotted British items and signed petitions
  • Boston Massacre

    5 colonists were killed in this event. The act that led to this tragedy was the Stamp Act.

    Boston Tea PartyThe Sons of Liberty organized the Boston Tea Party. The British responded by creating the Intolerable Act and by closing the ports.

    Intolerable Acts

    The purpose of this act was to try and assert Britain's authority. It also wished to separate Massachusetts from the rest of the colonies to keep a rebellion from spreading. They closed shipping in Boston, increased royal control in Massachusetts, took the Ohio territory and gave it to Quebec. However they did expand the amount of buildings soliders could not stay in.

    Taking place in Philidelphia, people like Ben Franlink, Richard ehnery Lee, Thomas Jefferson, John Adams, John Hancock all met and came up with the idea of indeppendence,
  • First Continental Congress

    First Continental Congress
    The meeting of the first continental congress took place in Philadelphia in Carpenter's hall. George Washington and deglagates from each state except Georgia were present. Here they decided to set up a militia for the colonizes, and petetion the king, but that failed.
  • Lexington and Concord

    Generals were sent to Boston to try and control things better. Word got out and riders such as Paul Revere warned the colonists. British generals Henery Clinton, John Burgoyne, and William Howe were called in to help tame the colonists
  • Decloration of Independence

    Thomas Jefferson wrote the decloration with three key parts. They are Individual rights, griviences of the king, and declaring independence.
  • Articles of confederation

    George Washington was named president through this. The problem with it is that there was no tax, no foreign commerece, and there had to be unanimous vote. But states were brought together, they signed treaties, and created a treasury.
  • Treaty of Paris

    Ben Franklin, John Adams, and John Jay represented the U.S. during signing. This gave us land all the way from the Great Lakes to Florida to the MIssissippi river. Also, the decloration of independence was recognized.
  • Constitutional Convention

    The convention was called to remedy the articles of confederation and write the constitution.
