Magna Carta
Magna Carta
King John of England was forced into signing the Magna Carta which was a document created to limit the power of the monarchy and preserve the basic legal rights of the men of England. -
Mayflower Compact
The purpose of the document was to keep the peace between Puritans and non-separatist pilgrims. -
Petition of Rights
The Petition of Rights was signed by Charles the I and some of the rights that were given were restriction on non-parliamentary taxation and imprisonment without cause. -
English Bill of Rights
The English Bill of Rights gave people the right to freedom of speech, freedom to fair trial, freedom for protestants to bare arms, and freed the people from taxations by royal perogative. -
French and Indian War
The major players in this war were Great Britian, France, and American Colonists. Some battles the war consisted of the Battle of the Wilderness, Battle at Fort Necessity, Battle at Oswerggo, Massacre of Fort William Henry, Battle at Fort Louisburg, and the Capture of Quebec. Britian is considered the winner of the war but as a result they had to heavily tax the colonists which then caused tension and animosity. -
Albany Plan of Union
Ben Franklin suggested the plan but it never went through because they never sought approval from the king. The political cartoon associated with this is the 'JOIN, or DIE". -
King George III Takes Power
King George III caused tension with the colonists when he placed taxes on imported goods. -
Stamp Act
The Stamp Act caused the taxation of any printed paper. The colonial leaders created the Stamp Act Congress because of it. -

Boston Tea Party

The Boston Tea Party was formed by the Liberation Party and the British responded to it by creating and enforcing the Intolerable Acts. -
Intolerable Acts
The cause of the Intolerable Acts were caused by the Boston Tea Party. The provisions of the intolerable Acts were that ports were closed, and that British soldiers could invade colonists' homes at anytime and any where. Also, colonists were restricted from running their own government. -
First Continental Congress
The First Continental Congress was in Plilidephia. A group of men which included: Joseph Galleway, Patrick Henry, Samual Adams, and George Washington were all there to discuss boycotting British goods. -
Second Continental Congress
The Second Continental Congress was a meeting held in Philadelphia to get their independence from Britian. Some of the people who signed it were George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, and John Hanson. -
Lexington and Concord
This battle is considered the start of the Revolutionary War. The British General was General Gage. Paul Revere has to do with this event because he was the one who yelled "The British are coming! The British are coming!" -
Declaration of Independence
The Declaration of Independence is a document showing the freedoms that people have. It also shows that they are Independent from anyone else. -
Articles of Confederation
The Articles of Confederation was an agreement between the 13 original colonies and served as their first set of rules, or constitution. John Hanson was named the first president under the articles. -
Start of Constitutional Convention
The Constitutional Convention was the group that drafted the Constitution of the United States of America.
