    French and British fighting over land in North America. Native Americans take sides. English win and kick the French out completely. Fought in the Ohio River Valley. Leads to discontent for both sides, because the English have to pay taxes since they were in debt from the war.
  • Proclamation of 1763

    Drew an imaginary line across the Ohio River Valley so that Native Americans could be safe on their land.
  • Pontiac's War

  • Parliament Passes the Stamp Act

  • Stamp Act

    taxes on dice, playing cards, newspapers, etc.
  • Townshend Act

    Parliament taxed goods such as tea, lead, paper, paint, most manufactured goods
  • Stamp Act Repealed

    Parliament repealed Stamp Act to try and get British colonists to back down from protesting and boycotting everything, didn't work too well
  • Quartering Act

    20,000 British Troops to Boston and colonists had to house them and take care of them. They were unwelcome guests.
  • Boston Massacre

    Organization of colonists who wrote letters reporting events to other colinsts
  • Boston Tea Party

    Colonists threw boxes of tea overboard a ship because they were angry about the Tea Act
  • The Intolerable Acts

    British Officials make 4 "Intolerable Acts" to punish colonists for the Boston Tea Party. Acts were:
    1. Port of Boston closed
    2. Only one meeting a year elected by king officials
    3. Major crime trials had to take place in Britain or Canada
    4. A new Quartering Act was placed
