    During the 1774-1789 the continental congress was the government of the 13 colonies. In 1774 it was voted that they should send a statement of grievances which a list of problems. It was also voted that they should Boycott all British trade. The king of Parliament thought they had the right to tax so the colonies didn't want to but british goods.

    Battle of Bunker Hill was fought on a hill which was called Breed's Hill. The British won since the Americans ran out of ammunition. British knew that it would be difficult defeating the Americans.

    On May 17, 1776, Washington believed that his army ready to fight. Cannon and soldiers were placed in positions that were overlooking the Boston. The British retreated and the american got a victory.

    On July 2 of 1776, 13 colonies voted yes for declaring independence. New York was late to voting but supported and agreed. July 4 the Declaration of Independence was approved and later printed.
