The end of the French and Indian War
gave England a score.
This made the colonists upset,
because Britain was in debt.
So colonists were getting taxed.

Colonists wanted to move west,
but King George III thought east was best.
So colonists started proving
that they wouldn't follow his rules,
and started moving,

Sugar Act
The Sugar Act
did in fact,
make people mad.
It gave them taxes
that they didn't need to have.
Sugar should be a right,
so they put up a fight.
They started boycotting.

Stamps were always used,
so then the taxes were refused
The items were stamps, cards, dice and more,
but people didn't buy them anymore.

Quatering Act
The Quatering Act
did in fact,
make people house soldiers.
This was a violation of their rights,
And the violence started to spread.
The colonists wouldn't put up
with this unneccessary act.

Townshend Acts
The Townshend Act
taxed imports,
like paper,glass and tea.
This you see,
gave soldiers the right
to search ships when it shouldn't have been right.
The colonists were very upset about this, and they started smuggling in items.

Boston Massacre
The Boston Massacre
was a massacre.
5 people died,
when the soldiers didn't even cry.
The soldiers were armed, the colonists were barely
and the soldiers were unharmed.
The colonists thought that it wasn't right for the soldiers to kill 5 innocent people. The violence between the colonists and the soldiers started getting worse.

Tea Act
This allowed colonists to get the tea
without having to go to England, you see.
Though the tea was cheaper,
it still had taxes,
and people weren't ready to relax.

Boston Tea Party
The Boston Tea Party
wasn't actually a party.
There were still taxes on tea,
so people poured it in the sea.
This created great trouble,
and the security would double.

First Continental Congress
The First Continental Congress was held in Philadalphia. This was because it was in the middle of the colonies and you could no longer hold meetings in Massachusetts. It was a meeting held by representatives of each colony except for Georgia. They were planning on what to do if there was a war, and to get militias ready. They decided to stay supporting Massachhusetts.

The Coercive/Intolerable Acts
didn't just make items taxed.
The punishments that came,
were too harsh for just one group to blame.
The colonists were very upset, even the people who thought that dumping tea into the harbor wasn't right.
This led to the outbreak of war because the colonists were very upset and started smuggling and boycotting.

Paul Revere's Ride
Paul Revere rode to warn that the British were coming. There were other riders, but Paul Revere is the most famous. Paul got caught telling people about the British, but he got freed. He even helped some of the Sons and Daughters of Liberty to escape.

Lexington and Concord
The battle of Lexington and Concord was a battle fought between the British and the colonists. No one knows who fired the first shot, but many people were injured, and some were even dead. This got the Brithish and the colonists to start fighting even more.
