The Frech and Indian War comes to an end. The Treaty of Paris was finally signed by both the French and the British. -

Pontiac's Rebellion
Pontiac's rebellion lasted a total of 3 years. The Native Americans were unhappy with the British so tribes got together and rebelled. The tribes that were part of the rebellion were: Ottawa, Ojibwa, Shawnee, Miami, Hhuron, Seneca, and Potawatomi. The Native Americans would get into the forts and capture or kill the British. -
Proclamation of 1763
This proclamation, made by the British Parliament and signed by the king, stated that no settlements could be made west of the Appalachian Mountains. This meant that the war was basically for nothing, since the British were not allowed to expand into the territory they conquered. -
Sugar Act 1764
The English were in dept so they came up with the Sugar Act. The Sugar Act was an importing tax. There used to be a tax before, the Molasses Tax, but no one payed it. The colonists were unhappy with the Sugar Act and started to boycott English products. -
Stamp Act
The first direct tax was the stamp act. All legal things need a stamp, and the stamp costed money. If the colonists didn't have the stamp, the object would be illegal. The colonists were unhappy with this act and burned the tax collecters wirh tar and then feathered them. This tax only impacted a small amount of the population but it impacted the rich and educated. -
Virginia Resolves
The Virginia Resolves, which was passed by the Virginia House of Burgesses stated that the Parliament was no longer allowed to tax the colonies with the Stamp Act. -
Quartering Act
The Quartering Act stated that the colonists had to give the British Troops living quartes, bedding, food, beer, cider and also rum. The colonists were furious, they refused to supply the british troops. By this time the colonists only wanted peace and freedom. -
Son's of Liberty
The Son's of LIberty was formed throught the colonies. This group was violent, they burned stamps and threated the British officials. A boycott was also started in New York against British goods. -
Stamp Act Cancelled
Because of the boycott the British economy started falling. So in March of the year 1766 they canceled the stamp act. But the relationship between England and the Colonies remained damaged. -
Pontiac's Rebellion Treaty
On the year 1766, Pontiac signed a treaty to end the rebellion. Neither of the sides lost.
