The Proclamation of 1763 made it so no colonists can settle west of the Appalachian Mountains. The colonists didn't like this because they wanted more space. -

The British needed to pay off debts from the French and Indian war. They taxed the colonists for sugar products. -

The Boston Massacre
British soldiers fired and killed several people. The British soldiers were being harrassed by a mob. -
Tea Act
The British wanted to reduce the amount of tea in their warehouses. They lowered the price of their tea so people would buy theirs's and not the illegal smuggled tea. -
Boston Tea Party
The colonists didn't want to be taxed on their tea. So, the Sons of Liberty went and dumped a lot of tea into the Boston Harbor. -
Intolerable Acts
The British needed to punish the Massachusetts colonists for the Boston Tea Party. They made it so that soldiers couldn't enter and stay in your house. -
1st Continental Congress
Leaders from every colony except Georgia met to discuss what to do. They decided on how to respond to the British.
