Albany Plan of Union
Representatives from many of the colonies met in Albany NY to discuss the threat of war with France.
Benjamin Franklin came up with the Albany Plan of Union, which was a single government for 11 of the colonies to unite them against France.
None of the representatives had approved it. -
Olive Branch Petition
The colonists had tried to make peace with Britain, but the king refused and prepared for war. -

Proclamation of 1763
The Proclamation of 1763 set the Appalachian Mountains as the western boundary for colonies to prevent any more fighting between the Natives and the British. -
Sugar Act
- Taxed molasses and sugar
- The British used naval patrols and royal inspectors to search warehouses and private residences.
- The British offered to share taxes with citizens who reported friends/neighbors who were smuggling goods, since the colonists were smuggling and not paying taxes.
- The colonists became deeply angered by this unfair system.
