End of the French and Indian War
The French and Indian War was fought between the French and the British. The British won the war and the French lost all the land that they possesed in North America. The colonists were mad because the British started taking control over the colonists. -
The Proclomation of 1763
The Proclomation of 1763 is when King George said that the colonists could not move west of the Appalachian Mountains because he didn't want to keep protecting the colonists from Indian attacks. The colonists were not very happy, but some of them just ignored it, and moved west anyway. This could lead to the Revolutionary War because the colonists will get angry at the British because they have to follow the British Rules even though they are all the way across the ocean. -
Sugar Act
The Sugar act is a tax on sugar and molasses. This tax led to the colonists new slogan 'No Taxation Without Representation,' and they boycotted sugar and molasses, and they began to smuggle taxed goods in. The British kept taxing goods and this is one of the ways that the American Revolution started. -
Stamp Act
The Stamp Act was when Parliment taxed legal documents, newspapers, cards, dice, etc. The colonists started sending petitions to the King. There was violence as well as smuggling. The colonists kept boycotting these taxed goods, and they were getting more and more frustrated at Parliment for taxing everything that they use. -
The Quartering Act
The Quartering Act forced the Colonists to feed and take care of the British soldiers. The Colonists felt that this was a violation of their right to have privacy. This outraged the colonists, and they began to train their dogs to attack British soldiers. Some colonists refused to let British soldiers in their homes. -
Townshend Act
The Townshend Act taxed imports like glass, paper, and tea. This allowed officers to use Writs of Assistance to search colonial ships for smuggled goods. This again violated their rights. Merchants were forced to sign the Non-Importation argreement. Colonists continued to boycott these goods. Colonists were getting outraged. -
Boston Massacre
The Boston Massacre was when five colonists in Boston got shot by British soldiers. The colonists thought that the British were evil and cruel for shooting the colonists, and the British thought that the Colonists brought this upon themselves for provoking the soldiers. Colonists even more furious at the British now. -
Tea Act
The Tea Act was when the colonists were allowed to import British tea directly from India. The tea was still taxed, but much cheaper. The colonists saw this as a trick to accept being taxed without representation. Colonists continue not buying tea. The colonists are getting really angry at the British now. -
Boston Tea Party
The Boston Tea Party was when The Sons Of Liberty dressed as Mohawk Indians and snuck on the British East India Company ships and dumped the tea in the Boston Harbor. Colonists were excited about this because they clearly showed their defiance to Mother England. More British soldiers were sent to the 13 Colonies, and this led to the outbreak to the war. -
Intolerable Acts
The Intolerable Acts was the punishments for The Boston Tea Party. These punishments included a new Quartering Act, the Boston Harbor was closed, and they banned town meetings. These punishments were only for Massachusetts. The colonists started working togerther to help Massachusetts, and the colonists saw this as an act of war. -
The First Continental Congress
The First Continental Congress met in Carpenter's Hall in Philadelphia.They discussed what to do about the Intolerable Acts.The Colonists demanded for it to be repealed. The Colonists were happy about this because they got to send a represntitive to represent their colonies. This led to the outbreak of the war because the British found out about this so they sent even more troops over. -
Paul Revere's Ride
Paul Rever's Ride was when Paul Revere, Sam Prescott, and William Dawes rode around Massachusetts warning the colonists that the British were coming. The colonists were prepared and the Minutemen intercepted. This was one thing that led to the outbreak of war because the British thought the riders were scouts of the 'Resistance.' -
Lexington and Concord
Lexington and Concord was the battle fought between the Minutemen and the British. The colonists were excited that they finally got to take a stand against the British. This was the event that led to the outbreak of war. Nobody knows who fired the first shot, because both sides were bias.
