  • The French and Indian War.

    The British and French colonists went to war at 1754 over the Ohio River valley. France to really controlled this region and profited from trading furs, with other Native Americans there. British colonists wanted to expand west, to find better farm land.
  • The Proclamation.

    King George, III said that colonists could not move west to the Appalachian Mountains. He did not want to have to keep protecting to the colonists from Indian attacks.
  • Sugar Act.

    The British made tax on sugar and molasses, the colonists had Boycotts, rent petitions to the king, and they were smuggling goods. There colonists protested against “NO TAXATION WITHOUT REPRESTATION”. The colonists thought the tax was unnecessary
  • Stamp Act.

    Required special tax stamps far legal documents, news paper, dice, cards, ect…. It was unfair for parliament to tax colonists since they have no representative in parliament. They had Boycotts, one thing lead to another in violence, colonists rent a petition to the king, and it caused smuggling.
  • Quartering Act.

    Forced colonists to house British soldiers stationed in the colonies. Violation of their rights out raged. The colonist refused, violence occurred toward soliders.
  • Townshend Acts.

    Tax on imports like glass, paper, and tea. Allowed officers to use "Writs of Assistance" to search colonial ship’s for smuggled goods. Writs violated their rights. Merchants signed non-Importation Agreements, and cause Boycotts.
  • The Boston Tea Party.

    The Boston tea party was not at all a true party, it was when the sons of liberty got together and did exactly what they planed to do. The sons of liberty dressed up as the Mohawk Indians, and snuck onto ships; and dumped all the tea into the Boston Harbor.
  • Tea Act.

    Tea act of 1773 allowed colonists to import directly from India. After the Boston Tea Party, tea was still taxed, but it was much cheaper. The colonists didn’t want to take the chance. They saw it as a trick to be taxed without representation. The Boston tea party was when the sons of liberty dressed in disguise as the Mohawk Indian and snuck onto the ships and destroyed all the tea and dumped it into the Boston harbor.

  • First Continental Congress

    Thr first continental congress was a meeting of representaives from 12 of 13 colonies in Philadelphia, PA. in September 1774. They met to discuss how to respond to the "Intolerable Acts".They decided to demand repeal of "Intolerable Acts", all colonies to train militas. They arranged new Boycotts.
  • Paul Revere's Ride.

    The sons of liberty found out the plan that the British had to go to Massachusetts, and seize the weapons. Paul Revere saw two lanterns lit, so he got on a horse, and started to ride to warn people that the British troops were coming. Dawes and Paul’s plan was that Paul would take a boat over to the other side of the shore and that the British wear coming be sea. They would hang two lanterns if they were coming by sea; and one they came by land.
