    French and Indain War The British defeated the French and gained east of the Mississippi River. They also gained Florida. This leads to colonists moving west and the proclamation of 1773 to come into play. Also more soldiers coming to the 13 colonies.

    Proclamation of 1763 King George The lll said colonies could not move west of the Appellation Mountains. George did not want to have to send troops to keep protecting them from the Indians. George didn't want 100’s of men dying for people to go and save colonists.

    Sugar Act The sugar act is the event of the taxing of sugar and molasses. The colonist believed in NO TAXATION WITHOUT REPRESENTATION. The colonist thought it was unfair for parliament to tax colonists since they had no representative. The colonists responded bye boycotting and smuggling sugar.

    Stamp act The stamp act required on special taxes for stamps on legal documents. The act consisted of newspaper, dice, cards, ect…. So colonist also boycotted the stamp act too. The colonist would send petitions and would also start smuggling. This ended up in violence and disputes between colonist and the government.

    Quartering acts The quartering act made colonist house British soldiers. The colonist thought it was a violation of their rights.They were also outraged. The colonists refused to house the British and comited violence toward soldiers.

    Townshend Acts The Townshend act was a tax on glass, paper, and tea. The colonists view was Now Taxation Without Representation. The government passed a law called the writs of assistance. This required the soldiers to go to the colonist s ship and search for smuggled items. The merchants signed non- importation agreements this meant that the merchants agreed to not import any goods from Britain. The colonist also boycotted this act too.

    Boston massacre In 1770 a British soldier was looking for some work when a colonist started taunting him. He was then surrounded by a mob. They were throwing anything they could at him. Then Capt. Preston sent 7 soldiers to save him. When they got there the colonist were threating to kill them. They were so close to the bayonets that you couldn’t fit a hat between two of them. Then the British fired. Everyone thought it was the British’s fault .This made the colonist mad and they wanted was to fight.

    Tea Act The tea act was when Britain allowed the colonists to import directly from India. This made the tax and price go down. The colonists felt better but they still didn’t like it. They still thought the British shouldn’t be taxing them.

    The Boston Tea Party On 12/16/1773 the sons of liberty dressed as Mohawk Indians snuck on to the British east India company ships and dumped tea into the Boston harbor. The colonists were angry with the sons of liberty, because of their actions the whole colony had to pay. The effect is that the intolerable acts were passed as punishment, and the first congressional meeting was held.

    Coercive/intolerabe Acts The intolerable acts were punishment for the Boston massacre. It made the whole Massachusetts stop having town meetings and closed the Boston harbor until tea was paid for. It also made colonist house more soldiers because more soldiers had to patrol Massachusetts. The colonists hated this because they didn’t want to house British soldiers. This lead to war because the colonist were mean to the soldiers.

    The First Continental Congress The First Continental Congress was when the colonies send reps to Philadelphia, PA, all but Georgia. They talked about how to respond to the Intolerable Acts, and how they should be stockpiling weapons because they might be on the verge of war. The conclusion was to try to repeal the Intolerable Acts.

    Paul Reveres Ride Paul Reverse ride was when the British were coming to impound the weapons from the minute men. Paul saw the 1 light and new the British were coming bye land. So, Paul and Sam Prescott started their ride to warn the minute men. Paul and Billy Dawes were captured in Lexington. The sons of Liberty learned the British were coming and warned every one in the first place. The fighting continued until the next day.

    The Battle of Lexington and ConcordThe battle of Lexington was with the British versus the Minute men. The minute men were a militia. The British won the battle of Lexington and the colonist won the battle of concord.
