    French and Indian war
    This war gave Great Britain a huge gain of territory in North America. However after having to pay for the war in expenses people were not happy. They were discontent with their lifestyle. This later led to the American Revolution.
  • The Proclamation of 1763

    The Proclamation of 1763
    A boundary made by the British that was marked in the Appalachian Mountains at the Eastern Continental Divide. This Boundary was decreed to prevent the settling of Anglo-American colonists on land claimed by the French after the French and Indian War.
  • The Sugar Act

    The Sugar Act
    This act was in place to help prevent smuggling trade for sugar and molasses between the French and Dutch West Indies. This increased the cost to help the British empire recover from over sized responsibilities that they gained after the French and Indian war.
  • Stamp Act of 1765

    Stamp Act of 1765
    This act was approved by the British parliament under the ruling of King George the 3rd. This act put tax on paper and official documents. However this was only in place for the American colonies and not in England. This act was to raise money for Britain.
  • Townshend Acts of 1767

    Townshend Acts of 1767
    This act was in place to help pay off the money expenses that occurred when establishing the American colonies. This act made it so taxes were forced upon glass, lead, paint, paper, and tea.
  • The Boston Massacre

    The Boston Massacre
    The Boston Massacre started out as a street fight and then grew more intense. This fight was between patriots and British soldiers. The reason the fight first started was because of the problem of Taxation without representation. As the fight grew many colonists were killed in the event earning it's name "The Boston Massacre".
  • Tea Act

    Tea Act
    The Tea Act was a law during 1773 giving all control of tea to the East India Tea company. What they could control included the trade and delivery of tea. They made this law because the British Parliament was running out of money. This act also created a tax on tea.
  • Boston Tea Party

    Boston Tea Party
    In this event American colonists raided ships that were carrying tea. This is because they were taxed on it with out a good reason. When they raided the ships they dumped ships full of tea into the Boston Harbor. This event then earned its name "Boston Tea Party".
  • Intolerable Acts

    Intolerable Acts
    The Intolerable Acts happened after the events of the Boston Tea Party. The British parliament put in place four new laws to punish the colony of Massachusetts bay for the past events of the Boston Tea Party.
