  • Treaty of Paris

    Great Britain was at war against France for territory in North America. The fighting ends in 1762 and land is redistributed between England, France and Spain.
  • Proclamation Act

    It was an Act after the French and Indian war stating that the colonists could not live past the Appellation Mountains.
  • The Sugar Act

    The Sugar Act was created by British Parliament. It gave England revenue from the colonists exports.
  • The Stamp Act

    The Stamp Act was created to help Britain pay for the cost of keeping troops in America. It taxed many printed materials in the colonies.
  • The Quartering Act

    The Quartering Act required that the colonists would house British soldiers. Also they had to provide food and other goods.
  • Stamp Act Congress

    The Stamp Act Congress was the first congress of the American colonies. It was created to repeal the Stamp Act and petition to the King to stop it.

    It was a Declaration sent to England saying that taxing the colonists without formal representation was unconstitutional.

    The Act was repealed by the British Parliament saying that they can do whatever they want whenever they want because the colonists are subjects of the King.

    The Declaratory Act lessened the Sugar Act on the colonists. The Colonists were boycotting the British imports and it was hurting England's business.

    The Townshend Act was created to raise money in the colonies to pay the governors and judges in England so they would remain loyal to the King. Also it was put in place to punish New York for not following the Quartering Act.

    The Boston Massacre was a protesting event against Britain because the solders were occupying the city to enforce the British Legislation.

    They were a shadow government created by Sam Adams. They rallied the colonists together to create a revolution against Great Britain.
  • Tea Act

    It was an Act made by the British Parliament to help the British East India Company survive. It made the colonists buy their tea with a tax instead of getting it elsewhere.
  • Boston Tea Party

    The Boston Tea Party was an event in which the colonists dumped over a million dollars worth of Tea into the Boston harbor in protest to the Tea Act.

    The Intolerable Acts were a set of laws set in place by the British Parliament to punish Massachusetts for the Boston Tea Party incident.
  • 1st Continental Congress

    The first Continental congress was put in place by the colonies to give Britain a response to the Intolerable Acts.
  • Battles of Lexington and Concord

    The battles of Lexington and Concord were the first armed confrontations that started the American Revolution.
  • Bunker Hill

    The battle of Bunker Hill was during the beginning of the Revolutionary War and it was for a strategic advantage over Pennsylvania.

    The Olive Branch Petition was an attempt to keep Britain and the colonies from getting into a full scale war.

    It was an article Published by Thomas Paine. It is about how the colonists should rise up and fight for a separate government from Britain.
  • Declaration of Independence

    It is a statement saying that the 13 colonies are now 13 newly independent states and are no longer under British rule.
