Is the theory that a colonies main priority was to become a self-sufficient settlement who is also in competition with other countries to aquire the most gold and silver. -

Policy where England loosley enforced regulations to try and keep the loyalty of all the colonies. -
French And Indian War
France and Britain were rivals to become the worlds largest empire and fought over land in the New World. Natives suported both sides in points during the war to try and preserve some of their land so they would not lose all of it. -

Stamp Act
The British placed a tax on paper goods in the colonies. Parliment then repealed the act because of colonial opposition. -

Congress in the americas regarding the Stamp Act and and their thoughts on it. -
Quartering Act
It stated that colonists were required to provide British soldiers to any accomidations they needed. -
Declaratory Act
Declared that taxing in the Americas is the same as in Britain. This act was accompanied by the repeal of the Stamp Act. -
Townshend Acts
Acts passed by Parliament that would raise revenues so they could pay for the slaries of the judges and govenors so they would remain loyal. -
Boston Massacre
The patriots in Boston were throwing stones, clubs, and snowbals at the British soldiers and the British responded by killing the rioters. -
The Tea Act
This Act was designed to prop up the East India Company and imposed no new taxes. -
Boston Tea Party
London gave the British the right to sell tea directly to the conlonies which killed the merchants. The colonists then, in an act of defiance, burned British tea and throw it into the Boston Harbor. -
Intolerable Acts
These acts were passed as a punishment for the colonists dumping the tea into the Boston Harbor. -
First Continental Congress
Congress of twelve of the thirteen colonies(not Georgia) that were hoping for British assistance with Native American problems in the frontier. -
Battles of Lexington and Concord
The British pushed towards these towns to destroy American Military weapons but were met by small fleets of minutemen which they couldn't fight off. The British were forced to retreat. -
Second Continental Congress
This congress met to manage colonial war efforts and they adopted the Declaration of Independence from Britain. -
Thomas Paine Writes "Common Sense"
A pamphlet written by Thomas Paine that inspired people to fight for their independence from Great Britain in the summer of 1776. -
Declaration of Independence
This document adopted in the Second Continental Congress declared the colonies independence from Great Britain. -
American Revolution Ends
The American revolution comes to a hault in 1781. -
Treaty of Paris
Negotiated between United States and Great Britain. Treaty of Paris ended the Revolutionary War and it also clarified the independence of the United States from Great Britain.
