Stamp Act
Taxes imposed on Colonists by British Government on all legal paper. This tax included, but was not limited to, things like stamps or letters, and even licenses for work or marriage.

Townshend Acts
A more widespread set of taxes imposed on the colonists. These taxes spread from paper to things like lead, and paint. The townshend acts were a way for the British Government to take money from the colonists in larger amounts.

Boston Massacre
A violent reaction by the colonists as a result of the townshend acts. Although it was called a massacre, only five people died.

Tea Act
Act imposed by the British government which gave total control of tea sales to the East Indian Tea Company. Since colonists were so reliant on tea, this was very opposed.

Boston Tea Party
After the British imposed the tea act, some colonists made a violent opposition. Some of the disguised themselves as Indians and snuck down to the harbor. The, they dumped all the tea into the ocean.

Coercive Acts
After the Boston Tea Party, the British government posed yet another set of laws on the colonists. Going forward, British government would have control of all trade going in and out of the colonies. This was the final straw, and colonists realized they had to take action against the government.
