John Hancock
Role:He was the first to sign the Declaration of Independence and would later be elected the first governor of Massachusetts. Key events:In the mid-1760s, he won two consecutive political positions, first managing affairs on a local level in Boston and then moving to the colonial legislature. To avoid British taxation, Hancock had also allegedly taken to smuggling goods aboard his vessels.

What:The new tax was imposed on all American colonists and required them to pay a tax on every piece of printed paper they used. Ship's papers, legal documents, licenses, newspapers, other publications, and even playing cards were taxed.

Significance: They did rebellious things that led to Colonist wanting to rebell to Britian. -

What:reduce the massive surplus of tea held by the financially troubled British East India Company in its London warehouses and to help the struggling company survive.

Outcome:The patriots won this Battle setting the tone for the American Revoluion early.

Battle of Bunker Hill
When and Where: Breed's Hill, 1775
Outcome:While the result was a victory for the British, they suffered heavy losses: over 800 wounded and 226 killed, including a notably large number of officers.
Significance: This wounded and killed many British Soldiers, his was good for the Patriots. Also generals and officers died. -
