    French and Indian wars

    These were wars between French and British Colonists
    They were fought over North American land
    American colonists were blamed for these wars
  • Proclamation Line

    A line that separated colonists land from native land.
    Line was drawn over Appalachian mountains.
    This angered Americans because they wanted to settle the Ohio River Valley
  • Stamp Act

    High taxes on all printed goods. This lead to boycotts from citizens and merchants alike.
  • Quartering Act

    Law that said Americans must shelter and feed British Troops. They took most of the rooms in taverns. This effect on the Americans led to the 4th amendment to the constitution.
  • Declaratory act

    British law that declared British parliament has same authority as American. This led to more conflict and harsh legislation.
  • Townshend Acts

    Taxes on glass, tea, lead, paint, and paper. It also gave the British East India Company exclusive rights to sell tea in America.This lead to the Boston Tea Party.
  • Boston Massacre

    An incident where British soldiers shot and killed people while under attack by a crowd. This incident lead to the Intolerable acts.
  • Boston Tea Party

    Incident where the Sons of Liberty dumped $1 million worth of tea in to the Boston harbor, turning it brown. This
  • Intolerable Acts

    Laws passed by the British to punish the American colonists for the Boston Tea Party, and other protests. This Act shut down the Boston Harbor, and shut down all Massachusetts government. THis lead to the 2nd Continental Congress.
  • Lexington and Concord

    The first military engagement of the Revolutionary War. The British thought that the Americans had ammunition outside of Boston in Lexington and Concord. They found nothing, suffered great losses, and started the Revolutionary war.
