Proclamation Line of 1763
- Issued by King George after the French & Indian War ended
- Ends all westward expansion
- Forbids settlement in Ohio River Valley
- The line is known today as the Appalachian Mountains
- The king chose the mountain range as the proclamation line so that way colonists have no excuse that they were unsure of the boundary.

Sugar Act of 1764
- An indirect tax on all sugar -Colonists must buy all sugar from Great Britain
- Was put in place to try and bring Britain out of war debt and to stop the smuggling of sugar

Quartering Act of 1765
- Required that all Americans must house and feed British soldiers in the colonies

Stamp Act of 1765
- The first direct tax on the colonies (tax not included in the price of the item)
- A tax on all printed goods
- Ranged from 1 cent (newspapers) to 10 dollars (diplomas)
- Colonists resist (Stamp Act Congress)

Townshend Acts of 1766
- Great Britain repeals the Stamp Act but replaces it with the Townshend Acts
- Tax on glass, paint, tea, and others
- Similar to the Navigation Acts
- Money was used to finance the troops in the colonies
- Townshend Acts were repealed after four years (1770)

Boston Massacre
-Took place on March 5, 1770
- An incident between colonists and British soldiers
-British soldiers open fired on a crowed after receiving harassment from colonists
-Killed five and wounded six -
Tea Act of 1773
- A tax on tea -The British East India Company was in danger of bankruptcy due to competition from the Dutch (VOC) -British East India Company also made a series of poor investments -They are granted a monopoly by the king
- All tea going into the colonies must be bought from the British East India Company

Boston Tea Party
- Sons of Liberty assemble to react and protest the Tea Act
- Result is the Boston Tea Party
- 342 creates of tea from the British East India Company were dumped in the Atlantic Ocean -Destroyed between 1-3 million dollars worth of tea
- King sees it as a "threat to British rule"
- Wants to 'reduce the colonies to a state of dependence" and punish those who were directly involved

The Coercive Acts/The Intolerable Acts
- Goa of these acts was to isolate Boston
- King says that "It is a fair punishment for a loss of money" -Boston Port Act: closed ports of Boston plummeting Boston's economy
- Massachusetts Government Act: effectively repealed the colony's 1691 charter, restricted the number of town meetings that a community can hold, and prohibited the election of town officials. Justice Act: anyone accused of a crime will have to leave the colonies to have a fair trial

Battles of Lexington and Concord
-"Kicked off the revolutionary war"
- Militias started forming in Mass.
-The King reacted immediately and sent troops in who's goal was to seize rebel leaders and their ammunition
- British troops march into Lexington where they will battle with militiamen
-After defeating the minority of the militia the soldiers marched on to Concord where they would be defeated by the Mass. militia
