    A conflict that occurred in North America due to ongoing tensions. It was originally started by George Washington. This war was also known as the Seven Years’ War, and it was the first global world war.

    The Stamp Act was an internal tax that was put up, the American colonists. The British taxed the Americans on all paper documents to help pay back the money from the French and Indian War.

    Townshend Acts
    The Townshend Acts were another way for the British Parliament to tax the American colonies. They were taxing any goods imported into the American colonies. The Americans were not happy because they did not have representation for taxation.
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    The Boston Massacre was a riot that started off between American colonists and British soldiers. This riot began on King Street and it began as a brawl between the American colonists and one British soldier. It quickly turned into a big conflict, where there were a lot of deaths.

    The Boston Tea Party was a rebellion against the British, done by Bostonians, to get back at them for taxing without representation. A group of these Bostonians snuck onto a British ship and dumped a large amount of tea off of the boat. During this, they dumped about £10,000 off of the boat.

    Paul Revere’s Ride and the Battle of Lexington
    Paul Revere rode to Lexington from Charleston to tell the people of Concord that the British were coming from Boston. 77 local minutemen met these British on Lexington Green. These 700 British left 8 Americans dead, and then headed into Concord. When they got to Concord, they were met by hundreds of the militiamen, leaving them outnumbered. They were running low on supplies which led them to retreat back to Boston.

    Patrick Henry’s “Give me liberty or give me death” speech
    Patrick Henry gave a speech to the Virginia militia to help get them fired up for war. He was convinced that a war would be inevitable with Great Britain. During this speech he stated, “I know not what course others may take, but as for me, give me liberty or give me death!” which he is now known for.

    Battle of Bunker Hill
    The Battle of Bunker Hill was a combat between Americans and the British. It occurred mainly on Breed's Hill. There were about 2,300 British troops that were able to clear the hill of the Americans, but the Americans ended up with the victory.

    Thomas Jefferson wrote this document after the colonies started forming their own governments. The Congress voted for them to have independence which led to the adoption of the Declaration of Independence.
