French and Indian War
In 1760 the French and Indian War had begun. It was also known as the Seven Years’ War. This all happened because of imperial struggle between Britain and France, France has expanded into the Ohio River valley and brought conflict with the claims of British colonies. Many battles had led up to the British declaration war. -
Sugar Act
British legislation aimed at ending the smuggling trade in sugar and molasses from the French and Dutch West Indies and at providing increased revenues to fund enlarged British Empire responsibilities. -
Stamp Act
In March of 1765 the British Parliament passed the Stamp Act, this was to help pay for the British troops that were stationed during the Seven Years War. This act required the colonist to pay taxes, this was was represented by a stamp that was on important documents and playing cards. This made the colonist furious making them protest “No taxation without representation”. -
Townshend Acts
In 1767 the British Parliament had taxed goods imported to the American colonies. The colonist that had no representation saw the Acts as abuse of power. -
Boston Massacre
In March of 1770 the Boston Massacre occurred. British troops were being unfair to American colonist. They were being unfair by taxing them and living in their homes. The colonist got furious, then they started throwing, snowballs, sticks, and stones. British soldiers started to shoot American colonist, this led to several deaths. -
Boston Tea Party
December of 1773 a political protest named The Boston Tea Party occurred. The American colonist were frustrated and angry at the fact that Britain was imposing “taxation without representation”. They dumped 342 chests of tea off of ships into the Boston Harbor. -
Intolerable Acts
The British was so upset by the Boston Tea Party and all the other destruction of the British Property made by the American Colonist, the British Parliament enacts the Intolerable Acts (Coercive Acts). This was four acts made by the British Government. This was The Boston Port Act, The Massachusetts Government Act, The Administration of Justice Act, and The Quartering Act. -
Patrick Henry’s “Give me liberty or give me death” speech
Patrick Henry is urging the colonists to raise a militia to defeat the British and earn their freedom. -
Paul Revere’s Ride and the Battles of Lexington and Concord
In April of 1775, hundreds of British troops marched from Boston to nearby Concord. They did this so they could seize an arms cache. Paul Revere along with other riders sounded the alarm. That’s when colonial militiamen began mobilizing. -

First military engagement of the American Revolution War. It’s the war that kicked off the American Revolutionary Wars. -
Declaration of Independence adopted
The declaration of independence was written to convince Congress to demand independence from Britain. They they signed and adopted the Declaration of Independence for the freedom of the 13 American colonies from Great Britain
