The French and Indian War
The French and Indian War took place when the expansion of France into the Ohio River Valley brought conflict between the British colonies. This all led to the French and Indian War. -
Proclamation of 1763
A law which forbid the colonists to move west of the Appalachian Mountains. England was in debt from the French and Indian War, meanwhile the colonists became angry. -
Sugar Act
The British Law wanted to conclude the trade in sugar and molasses from the French and Dutch West Indies. This all increased the enforcement of the law. -
Stamp Act
The Stamp Act involved the payment of the British troops which were installed in the colonies. This act made colonists pay taxes for every single document they used. -
Declaratory Act
An act that was passed by the Parliament. It declared that the taxing authority was the same in America and Great Britain. -
The Townshend Acts
A time period in which the British Parliament imported goods to the American colonies that were established, but the colonists took as it an abuse of power since they did not have any representation. -
Boston Massacre
A deadly riot which ended the lives of many people. Snowballs, sticks, and stones were thrown everywhere. This event began the desire for colonists to gain independence. -
Tea Act
This act involved the fight and ability to ship the tea directly to the colonists instead of shipping it first to England. Many colonists opposed this because there were taxes imposed in the tea. -
Boston Tea Party
A political protest that took place in Boston, Massachusetts due to colonists being frustrated at Britain for imposing “taxation without representation.” They tossed 342 chests of tea at Griffin’s Dwarf. -
Intolerable Acts
A time in which laws were passed down after the Boston Tea Party. They were not happy with the atrocities the colonists had made, so they made laws to punish the Massachusetts colonists. -
British Attack on Coastal Towns
The relationships between Great Britain and the American colonies were becoming no so great, they were pretty much deteriorating. The British navy attacked and attacked the town of Falmouth, Massachusetts by burning it and putting bombs. -
Battle of Lexington and Concord
This event started the American Revolution. It involved the first military engagements as the British army traveled to Boston to destroy and capture leaders and destroy Americans with everything they had.
