  • Great Awakening

    A religious "awakening" in the English colonies that spanned from the 1720s-1740s. It was caused by a European movement called the Enlightenment. The Enlightenment put more emphasis on science in the world, and while people followed this, some wanted to go back to religion. This was the start of a religious "renewal" in the colonies.
  • French and Indian War

    Also known as the 7 years war. The F+I war was a fight between the French and British colonies over the Ohio River Valley. It impacted both sides of the war because the valley was an important military asset for both the french and the british.
  • Treaty of Paris

    Ben Franklin, John Adams and John Jay negotiated the Treaty of Paris with King George III. The treaty declared that the american colonies were independent of Great Britain. It ended the Revolutionary War.
