To be able to vote you had to reach certain requirements. Only males, members of the church, and property holders. -

The Pilgrims came from New England for religious reasons. They came on the Mayflower and found Plymouth. They also hosted the first Thanksgiving. -

The Puritans who settled at Massachusetts Bay also came for religious freedom. They were not accepting others who studied different religions. -
