A draft constitution was written. A constitution is a book of rules to explain how Australia was going to be ruled. The Australian constitution is the single most important document in Australia's history. It created the federal government and the states and made Australia a nation. -
Corowa Confrence
Organised by a group of citizens. A confrence in Corowa was held to keep the federation movement alive. This political meeting was held in the NSW bordertown of Corowa. As a border town Corowa was requird to pay customs duties on items crossing the border. It was due to this customs duty that local residents became advocates for federation.Women were permited to attend but were not allowed to speak. -
