    The Nullification Crisis was when there were angered people about the increase on tariff prices but congress passed a new law that lowered the tariff prices a little bit. The president could use force to collect the tax money if needed.This increased tension between the North and South over the Past years.

    The Compromise of 1850 had 5 parts it would allow California to enter as a free state.It ended slave trade in Washington D.C. Increased the Fugitive slave laws.This made tenstion between the North and South because it forced the Northerners to catch Runaway slaves which they did not like because it made them feel like they were a part of slavery

    A lady Named Harriet Sowe wrote a novel called Uncle Tom's Cabin which would show the evils of slavery.In the North people loved this book and agreed with it but the South said it is nothing like slavery and did not like it.

    There was an enslaved man named Dread Scott that moved to free states which then they had a court case in the Supreme Cout to decided weather or not he would be free because he crossed onto free land.The South rejoiced at the case and though it was legal in all teritories, White Northerner were shocked because people though this was an unfiar choice made by the judges.

    Lincoln challenged Douglass to a seris of seven debates. The most important thing in these debates were slavery. This didn't give everyone equalities and ability to try and get what they wanted making them angry and causing tension

    A town in Virginia named Harper Farry was raided by John Brown. They raided this town for its arsenal and to start a revolt. The people in the North and South though it was a slave Revolt by giving the slaves weapons from the Arsenal

    Northern Democrats choose Stephen Douglas for president and Southerners picked John Breckridg. Many Americans tried to heal the North and South by forming new parties.This brought a strong reaction in the South because they though that they would no longer have a word in the National Government.
