    End of French and Indian War
    Because of land dispute, a war was started that was called the French and Indian war, or the 7 year war. England won the war and claimed land east from the Mississippi River. This lead to a problem with England where they restricted settlement past Appalachian Mountains, causing Colonists anger and the first event to start the revolution.
  • Pontiac's Rebellion

    Pontiac's Rebellion
    Colonists started to move west, Native American’s saw this as a threat to their homelands and sought to protect it from the colonists. Native Americans surprised colonists, and ended up destroying British posts, in retaliation the opposing force gave them smallpox contaminated blankets that suppressed the Natives for a while. Caused Native Americans to want to join opposing forces because of this. It led to the allying of a different army.
  • Royal Proclamation

    Royal Proclamation
    In order to try to keep peace with Natives, they stopped all settlement past the “American Alps”. It caused Colonists to become angry and because of the army sent soon after, tension skyrocketed in the Colonies, led to boston Massacre, Midnight ride, and so many other key events.
  • Sugar and Stamp Act

    Sugar and Stamp Act
    Still trying to get war debt payed off, George Greenville introduced the Sugar Act in which imported sugar and molasses was taxed higher. The stamp act was 1965 where stamps were taxed higher on things from playing cards to wedding certificates. Led to hanging of tax collectors, boycott on British goods, and the creation of Sons of Liberty. Led to repeal in 1766
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    After throwing snowballs at a redcoat, without order they opened fire and killed 11 colonists. Led Paul Revere’s midnight ride, tension to grow unbearable, and what really started the war.
  • Boston Tea Party

    Boston Tea Party
    150 men dressed as Mohawk Indians boarded the ship and 342 chest fulls of tea into the bay. First act of real retaliation from property damage, caused by Boston Massacre and tea act.
  • Midnight Ride

    Midnight Ride
    Paul Revere rode horseback from Boston to Lexington to warn the militia about incoming troops. Led to battle of Lexington and Concord
  • Suffolk Resolves

    Suffolk Resolves
    The Suffolk Resolves decided by the newly formed Congress said that they wouldn't follow Coercive Acts, to prepare and army in case of British attack, and to hold British hostages if a leader was taken. Led to forming of our current government.
