Constitution of 1824
The Federal Constitution of the United Mexican States of 1824 (Spanish: Constitución Federal de los Estados Unidos Mexicanos de 1824) was formed on October 4 of 1824, after the overthrowing of the Mexican Empire, led by Agustin de Iturbide. It was a constitution that made the Catholic religion the religion of Texas. It also made a checks and balances with 3 government branches, similar to the ones we use today. -
The Fredonian Rebellion
The Fredonian Rebellion (December 21, 1826 – January 23, 1827) was the first attempt by Anglo settlers in Texas to secede (become independent) from Mexico. The settlers, led by the Empresario Haden Edwards, declared independence from Mexican Texas and created the Republic of Fredonia near Nacogdoches. -
