In 494 BCE the Plebeians were tired of being opressed by the Patricians and the 40.000 of them (Plebeians) decided to leave Rome until more rights were given to them. They only returned because the Patricians agreed to give them say by adding the Tribune of Plebs to the governmnet. -

The Plebeians had gained some laws and powe but the Patricians were still more powerful, after 200 years of protest they gained political equality. Around 451 BCE the Patricians wrote down laws on tablets called the Twelve Tablets. -

In 287 BCE, Plebeians were considered Roman citizens for the first time. They could make choices and decisions government wise and the could also participate in it.
