  • Tripple Entente

    Tripple Entente
    The Tripple Entente was the aliance of Russia, France, and Brittan. The Tripple Entente was the allied side in WWI, Russia however was later replaced by US due to the Russian Civil War. This alliance was one of the causes of WWI. Once one of the countries got involved, which was Russia, the other two had to join in due to there alliance.
  • Woodrow Wilson Elected President

    Woodrow Wilson Elected President
    Woodrow Wilson was elected as president of the United States in 1913. He was our president all through WWI. He is known for trying to keep US out of European affairs and mind to our selves. Although this was not acomplished and is now hte excact opposite, it was still mostly succesful during the WWI Era. He was considered one of the "Big Three" in WWI. The "Big Three" were him, David Loyd George of Britan, and Georges Clemenceau of France. He was a key player in the Treaty of Versilles.

    Archduke Franz Ferdinand assassination
    The assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria-hungry was the event that started the first world war. 5 Serbian assassains and one bpsnian muslum shot and killed him in an attempt to free yugolsovian countries. Serbia backed these assassins decision and caused Austia-Hungry to declare war on Serbia. Serbia was in an alliance with Russia so asked them for support, Russia accepted and so did the rest of their alliance. Germany also joined in along with Turkey. Thus leading to WWI.

    Central Powers Form
    Austria-Hungry and Germany formed an alliance on August 1st, 1914. This alliance later became central powers. They formed an alliance to help protect eachother against common enimies such as the tripple entente. Once Austria got into war with Serbia and Russia, Germany joined in to defend its' allie. Italy was origannly a member but chose not to fight until a year later when it took the allies side instead of Germany's and Austria-Hungry.

    Trench Warfare Begins Being Used
    Trench Warfare was the main way that battles were fought. It is when both sides did big trenches that face eachother and have men that are inside firing at the other side. This warfare type was came about because old 19th century tactics were not effective against new modern weaponary. This was first used in the First Battle of Marne. Neither side could advance on the other so they began to dig trenches as a temporary strategy but it eventually became the most used tactic during WWI.

    Lustinia is sunk
    Lustinia was a American ship that was sailing to Britan with many inocent passangers on board. It wasn't doing anything wrong but a German U-boat shot it and killed most of the people inside. Germany did not like the fact that America was trading with Britan during the war so to show America this they decided to sink a cruise ship. This was one of the major events leading up to US entering WWI.

    The Zimmerman Telegram
    The Zimmerman Telegram was a message sent from Germany to Mexico trying to convince them to declare war on United States. They did this to try and distract US from WWI so that Germany had a better chance of winning the war. In return Germany promised Mexico many of the land that was taken away from them in the Mexican-American war along with substancial financial assistance. Mexico gave it much thought but refused. Mexico depended on US for their weapons and needed our help.

    US Enters War
    The US entered wwi for many reasons. We joined to aid our allies in the war and to protect ourselves. Although many people wanted to remain nuetrual, including the president himself, but it was time and it was in the US's favor to enter the war. Woodroow Wilson said many times that he will do everything in his power to keep us out of WWI but the time had come and it was clear what he needed to do so US entered the War and turned the War around and won.

    John J. Pershing
    John J. Pershing was the highest ranking man that the US as ever seen. He was in charge of the whole US army. He was the general for the United States during World War I. Although many times other countries tryed to put the American soldiers under their control, the US stuck with John J. Pershing. Although he was not the best stratagist his men were one of the most important figures in the victory of WWI.

    Russia Pulls Out of War
    Russia was fighting two wars at once. Russia had been fighting in WWI since the beginning however they now had the uprise of comunism to deal with. The communist began to take land and start to create a communist Russia, but civil war broke out so Russia's last option was to pull out of WWI.

    14 Points
    14 Points was a list of things that Woodrow Wilson wanted to happen when WWI came to an end his points were just what he wanted to do to reconstruction. It was focused on what to do in Germany. Woodrow Wilson wanted to be sympathietic for the Germans and just help them become a democracy but the French wanted the complete opposite so the 14 points did not ever go into action.

    Battle of Cantigny
    The term Dough Boy was first used in the American Mexican War to refer to the American soldiers. In WWI it was used to refer to the United States Marine Corp. The Dough Boys are most famous for the Battle of Cantigny which was fought on May 28, 1918. This was America’s first offensive in WWI.

    Armisitce Argreement
    The WWI Armistice Agreement was the agreement that ended the fighting in WWI. It marked the victory of the allies and complete defeat of Germany, it was technically not a surrender however. It was not the thing that made Germany have to pay for all the damage they had done. This was still to be disscussed by the leaders of France, Britan, and America.

    Signed Treaty of Versaille
    The Treaty of Versille was what said what Germany needed to do after WWI. It was decided by Britan, France, and America. Britan wanted harsh but not to harsh to prevent the spread of communism. France wanted to stop Germany from ever starting another World War. US just wanted to stay out of European affairs. In the end they were all satisfied. Germany had to give up land, pay for damages, get rid of most of their military, and admit full responsiblity for the war.

    League of Nations Form
    The League of Nations was formed in 1920. It was made to prevent another World War from breaking out. Obviouslly it failed because in 1939, WWII began. It's main goal was to establish peace in the world, particualry Europe. It failed in 1946 and out of it came the United Nations which is still around today.
