Arriving at Poland
Rifka and her family reach the Polish border. There, they examine Rifka and her family so they ca enter Poland. Rifka's mother's candle sticks have been stolen. Rifka and her family get sprayed by something vile. -
Motziv,Poland
Rifka gets ill with typhus. The sickness begins with her but ends with her whole family except Saul. Rifka's parents and Nathan are transported to a near-by hospital. -

When Rifka was well enough to move, they went and found a new place to live in. Their father's family had no room for them in their shed so Saul and RIfka found a room in a cheap inn. -
En route to Warsaw
Shortly after Rifka and her family overcame typhus they traveled to Warsaw. There they travelled a train. Rifka meets a girl with a baby and offers to fix her hair. When Rifka starts fixing the girl's hair she notices the smell and red patches. RIfka continues anyway. Then she arrives at Warsaw. -
Warsaw,Poland Bad News
In Warsaw,Poland is where Rifka's family will be buying their tickets. Before they buy tickets they need to be examined by a docter. Rifka recieves bad news and learns that will not be able to go on the ship because she has the skin disease the girl on the train had. -
Warsaw,Poland HIAS
RIfka's parents met with the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society (HIAS). The HIAS gave Rifka's parents money to eat. Also Rifka's air starts falling out. -
Antwerp,Belgium
Rifka says goodbye to her family. Now she must live with in Antwerp,Belgium with another family. Rifka likes her new home and he has to live with Marie and Gaston. Rifka also begins her treatments for her ringworms. -
An adventure in Antwerp
After Rifka's treatment she took a different route home. She encountered many beautiful sighings but when she saw a very tall man with gold teeth she got scared and ran off. This made Rifka lost. She saw a milkman and it reminded her of her uncle Zeb. She asked the man for help and he took her back home. To thank him Rifka kissed his hand. This was very special because she felt as if she said goodbye to her uncle. -
New food
Rifka tries new food and she enjoys some of them. Rifka found to love chocolate and she also loves icecream and bannannas. -
America, here comes Rifka!
After all the neccessary treatments, Rifka's ringworm has finally cleared. Now Rifka will be able to go on the ship to America. Shortly after the good news Rifka buys a ticket to go on a ship with no steerage and whereit is democratic. -
Somewhere on the Atlantic Ocean
Rifka enjoys being on the ship going to Anerica. On the ship she meets a sailor named Pieter. Rifaka and Pieter love hanging out and being with eachother. Rifka snd Pieter share a kisss and Rifka develops feelings for Pieter. -
Nightmare on the Atlantic Ocean
RIfka awoke to the violent waves of the Atlantic Ocean. Rifka was tossed across the deck and many passengers were as frightened as her. Pieter helped RIfka and took her to a small room with many other people. After the waves settled down and were now calmed Rifka sarched for Pieter. Then Rifka found out that Pieter had fell overboard. Her heart was broken and he learned that she loved Pieter. -
Miss Liberty
On this very day RIfka Nebrot arrived at Ellis Island. Many passengers on the boat where happy to see The Statue of Liberty. -
A DIssapointment
On this day Rifka was not allowed to enter America. The docters who examined her believe thats if she enters America with a bald head she will never find a husband. The goverment does not want to care for an immigrant so Rifka will be staying at the Island in a Hospital. -
Rifka meets new people
Rifka cares for many patients at the hospital and helps out the nurses. She takes care of one specific patient which is a polish baby.The baby girl has typhus. During lunch time everybody takes a seat and eats. There is one boy about seven years old that does not want to eat and get sent back to Russia. Rifka finds out that he is a peasant and grows hate toward him. -
Rifka reconnects with her mother
After after a year without seeing her mother or father, RIfka finnaly sees her mother. Her mother does not care whether her hair is missing or not. She even brought a small honey cake for Rifka's thirteenth birthday. Rifka felt much better after she saw her mother. -
A dream come true
After all the waiting and suffering on Ellis Island in in Germany RIfka's dream has came true. The whole family was very nervous and so was Rifka. After thinking the ringworm came back, Rifka started to grow some hair. The doctors happily signed her papers and Rifka was allowed to enter America.
