    Abel Tasman
    Abel Tasman was one of the explorers that helped discover Australia. He discovered Tasmania (obviously) in 1642. He first discovered New Zealand and went closer to the south to look for anything else. He found Tasmania but couldn't see Austarlia because it was too far.

    Machines were in the process of being invented. People tried to have more ideas on how to create machines and what they could do. They tried to make machines that could do they're work for them so they could spare time for people. When machines were invented, it made life easier but worse at the same time.

    Technology took over Britain forcing people to lose their jobs. People lost their jobs because machines could do the jobs for them. Lots of people were cramped in houses and people had to steal for survival because families didn't have money when they lost their jobs. A lot of people were caught and sent to jail.

    The industrial revolution caused a lot of people to lose their jobs, forcing to steal for survival. Most of the people were caught and sent to jail. Most of the people in Britain had to steal for survival, which meant there were a lot of criminals in Britain. The jails were to crowded so the Bristish needed somewhere to dump their convicts.

    Australia found by Capt. James Cook
    Captain James Cook was sent out by the King to look for new land. On the voyage of defeat, Cook was about to give up when he found an unknown land. He went there and found it was un-colonised and decided to call the new land New Holland. He sailed back to the King to tell him the good news. The King then told Capt. Arthur Phillip to colonise the new land.

    Australia becomes colonised

    The Bristish decided to dump the convicts in the new land that Capt. James Cook had found thinking no one would live there since it was a new found land. They found the Aboriginals and fought with them with the upper hand. The convicts had a lot of work to do so Australia would look good so that Capt. Arthur Phillip could get a lot of money. Later on, Arthur Phillip then colonised Australia so people could come and live there.

    American civil war won

    The British first decided to dump the convicts in America. The Americans won the war that was going on so they didn't allow the convicts that the British wanted to dump. They wanted a free country of convicts so they refused to take the convicts. The British decided to re-track where they are going to dump their convicts.

    New South Wales gets split

    New South Wales took up two thirds of Australia since it was discovered. It stayed like that until 1863 when New South Wales was split into three other states making NSW smaller. The states were; Queensland, South Australia and Victoria.

    Australia becomes diverse

    When Australia became colonised, it became really diverse with hundreds of nations coming to Australia. Today, people still come to Australia for it's amazing features. Australia will continue to become more diverse over the years. A lot of people came to Australia because of the Gold Rush. People discovered a massive amount of gold in the ground and the word spread across the world. Millions of people came to Australia and most of them were across a multitude of countries and continents.

    Dirk Hartog was the second European to land on Australia. He was the first to discover Western Australia though. He also became very famous in Australian discovery historoy through out all of the 200 years between then now.
