Boston Tea Party
Some of the Sons of Liberty dressed up as Native Americans and dumped about 300 chests of tea into the harbor. -
Coercive Acts
Were also called the intolerable acts. Made England blockade the colony’s harbor because of the dumping of the tea and tried to make colonists follow the other laws. -
1st Continental Congress
Was a group of people that discussed and these were the people that dealt with the Olive Branch Petition and War between Britain and the colonies. -
Battle of Lexington and Concord
was the start of the revolutionary war and later was called the shot heard around the world because it involved many countries. -
2nd Continental Congress
Was a meeting held about what they should do about the fighting in the colonies and how they should handle it. -
Battle of Bunker Hill
Was wrongly name because it was actually fought at Breed’s Hill. -
Olive Branch Petition
Was a treaty for peace and it had a deadline of May 10, and it was to give Britain a chance to stop the war and to remind him of rights the colonists had as British citizens. -
Signing of the Declaration of Independence
When the people signed it the first person to sign was John Hancock and he made it big enough for King George III to read it without his glasses. Everyone who signed the document would have been a criminal for treason which is punishable by death if the colonists had lost the war.
