    The peasants and working class people of Russia revolted against the government of Tsar Nicholas II. They were led by Vladimir Lenin and a group of revolutionaries called the Bolsheviks. The new communist government created the country of the Soviet Union.

    The Chinese Communist Revolution started because leader Mao Zedong wanted to reassert his authority in the Chinese government. He eventually shut down schools and they formed groups of students called the Red Guards. Over the time period 1.5 million people died.

    An armed uprising in Cuba that overthrew the government of Fulgencio Batista on January 1, 1959. The revolution’s leader, Fidel Castro, went on to rule Cuba from 1959 to 2008.
